Claire Manning is a fine artist who lives and works in London and the South East. She says of her practice: I’m interested in what happens when we gaze at an artwork - in the difference between what we look at and what we actually see - arguably a disparity between fantasy and reality. I work by appropriating images from magazines and old photographs, bringing them together using collage to create new, hybrid slices of female faces. Claire works primarily with images from the 1930's or before, twinning each with another from a contemporary mass-media source. |
